AI drafting software for solicitors takes the documents already on a matter, extracts the facts, and assembles a draft in the format required by the court or the pre-action protocol. The better tools then check that draft against the rules that govern it and hand the solicitor a list of what is missing or unverified.
The distinction that matters to a regulated professional is between generation and assembly. A general model generates plausible text, including plausible authorities that do not exist. An assembly tool quotes the witness’s own account where it exists, records the bare fact of an event where it does not, and refuses to invent the difference.

A solicitor cannot delegate the duty to the court. Practice Direction 32 paragraph 18.1(5) requires the statement to say how it was prepared, CPR 32.14 puts consequences behind a false statement of truth, and the SRA expects competence over any tool you use. A tribunal has already struck off a lawyer who filed AI-drafted material with authorities that did not hold up, on the basis that he could not check them.
That is why the architecture matters more than the interface. Restricting the citation set, showing the source of every fact, and declaring the preparation method are what make the output checkable, and checkable is what the duty requires.
