AI drafting software

AI drafting software for UK solicitors

Drafts assembled from the file, not generated from thin air. Automated CPR Part 32 checks, citations restricted to a curated library of UK authorities, and personal data masked before any model sees it.

What is AI drafting software for solicitors?

AI drafting software for solicitors takes the documents already on a matter, extracts the facts, and assembles a draft in the format required by the court or the pre-action protocol. The better tools then check that draft against the rules that govern it and hand the solicitor a list of what is missing or unverified.

The distinction that matters to a regulated professional is between generation and assembly. A general model generates plausible text, including plausible authorities that do not exist. An assembly tool quotes the witness’s own account where it exists, records the bare fact of an event where it does not, and refuses to invent the difference.

LegalDocs Assist is the second kind. Citations are limited to 210 UK authorities across five practice areas across five claimant practice areas, and the solicitor remains the person who verifies the facts and signs the statement of truth.

What a solicitor gets on each draft

A source for every fact

Each extracted fact records the document it came from, so review is checking rather than re-reading the file.

Fifteen format checks

Statement of truth wording and placement, declarations, exhibit referencing and numbering, preparation-method disclosure and the AI-use declaration block.

Flagged gaps, not filler

Where the file does not support a paragraph, the draft carries a question to put to the witness instead of confident prose.

Coverage scoring

A coverage review shows which pleaded issues the draft addresses and which are still open, with the defence points it answers.

Firm house style

Section coverage, numbering, target length and signature blocks follow your firm’s pack, not a generic template.

Word and PDF export

Court-ready formatting on export, with exhibit cover sheets where the document set needs them.

The professional duties this has to respect

A solicitor cannot delegate the duty to the court. Practice Direction 32 paragraph 18.1(5) requires the statement to say how it was prepared, CPR 32.14 puts consequences behind a false statement of truth, and the SRA expects competence over any tool you use. A tribunal has already struck off a lawyer who filed AI-drafted material with authorities that did not hold up, on the basis that he could not check them.

That is why the architecture matters more than the interface. Restricting the citation set, showing the source of every fact, and declaring the preparation method are what make the output checkable, and checkable is what the duty requires.

Where client data goes

  • PDF text is extracted in your browser. The file itself does not reach our servers.
  • Personal identifiers are masked before any model call and reinserted in the finished draft.
  • Zero data retention on the AI layer. Case content is purged within 24 hours.
  • Row-level isolation per firm, role-based access, concurrent-session detection.
  • Cyber Essentials certified, whole organisation scope, with the certificate published on an independent registry.
