The four models vendors use, what each one costs a claimant firm in practice, the line items that never appear on the quote, and our own prices in full.
Legal drafting software in the UK is sold four ways: per user per month, per practice area module, per matter, and per document produced. Most practice management suites with drafting built in sit in the first bracket, commonly between about £30 and £150 per user per month depending on tier. Specialist litigation drafting tools more often use a module price with licences included, because the value sits in the depth of one practice area rather than the headcount using it.
The number on the quote is rarely the number the firm pays. Implementation, template or house style configuration, training, and any integration work are usually separate, and per-query AI charges can turn a predictable licence into a variable cost.
LegalDocs Assist is priced per practice area module, from £850 per month with five user licences included, no setup fee and no per-query charge. The full list is below.
Predictable and easy to approve. It punishes firms with many occasional users, because a paralegal who drafts twice a month costs the same as a fee earner drafting daily.
Suits a department buying depth in one area. You pay for the tooling and the authority library for that area, and licences come in a block.
Attractive on low volume and painful at scale. Watch how a matter is defined, because a claim that runs for two years can be charged more than once.
Honest for occasional heavy jobs such as paginating a medical bundle. We use it for exactly that, at £150 per delivered bundle, so a firm only pays when it uses it.
| Module | Monthly price | Licences included | Additional licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTA and credit hire | £850 | 5 | £85 per user |
| Employers', public and occupiers' liability | £950 | 5 | £95 per user |
| Housing disrepair | £1,250 | 5 | £125 per user |
| Clinical negligence | £1,500 | 5 | £150 per user |
| Medical pagination add-on | £150 per delivered bundle | n/a | n/a |
No setup fee, no per-query charge. Bundled pricing applies where a firm licenses more than one module. Prices exclude VAT.
Take one document type and time it honestly. If a credit hire witness statement currently takes a fee earner three hours end to end, and the drafted version takes fifty minutes to review and finalise, the module pays for itself somewhere between eight and twelve statements a month at typical charge-out rates.
Do the same sum on the documents that go wrong rather than the ones that go right. A statement criticised at trial, or a disrepair claim that fails for want of a dated notice, costs more than any licence.
Ask for the arithmetic on your own numbers rather than a vendor case study. We will do it with you, and we will tell you if the volume does not justify it.
LegalDocs Assist is built for the courts of England and Wales, with Scottish and Northern Irish variants where the procedure differs. Every authority in the library is a UK authority.
Tell us the modules and the team size. We will send the figures, the data processing agreement and the DPIA screening in one pack.
